TRISURE’S ANNUAL ‘WRAP PARTY’ BENEFITS CHILDREN IN WAKE COUNTY’S GUARDIAN AD LITEM PROGRAM

RALEIGH – Wielding tools such as boxes, paper, scissors and tape, Santa’s representatives at TriSure worked feverishly, wrapping hundreds of presents for needy children.

For several years now, rather than sending a traditional corporate holiday gift, TriSure has remembered its clients in another way. In their clients’ honor, TriSure has purchased clothes, toys and other presents to be given to children in Wake County’s Guardian ad Litem program.

This year, the company’s investment topped $4,000, although the total contribution becomes even larger when including the generous personal donations of TriSure’s employees.

“The children in the Guardian ad Litem program face very difficult life circumstances including neglect, abuse and homelessness,” said Linda Folger, CPCU, CIC, ARM, CRM and a founding partner at TriSure. “By providing clothes, toys and school supplies, we hope to improve their immediate circumstances and send the message that they’re valued and important.”

Last week, more than a dozen TriSure employees gathered to sort, box, wrap and label presents for 43 children, with each child receiving an average of 15 presents.

“Several of the children we adopted this year don’t even have a permanent home,” said Susan Cain, CISR, CPSR, a TriSure employee and an organizer of the gift program. “Many of them are just trying to hold on and make it through school. It’s heartbreaking and we want to help.”

Wake County’s Guardian ad Litem program seeks to serve children involved in the court system, often because they’ve been abused or neglected. The program provides trained advocates who work to ensure that children remain safe in stable, permanent homes.

Each year at Christmas, the Friends of Wake County Guardian ad Litem program, a volunteer organization, sponsors a gift drive to ensure that these same children are not forgotten. This year, Friends of Wake County Guardian ad Litem will provide presents to nearly 1,000 children. To learn more, visit www.friendsofwakegal.org.
